Anne “lives, sleeps and eats” Travel Medicine! This is her passion and her enthusiasm is certainly evident as she helps to prepare you for your travels. Having travelled widely herself Anne is in a position to share some of her many tips with you for safe and enjoyable travel.
Free time is a rare commodity in Anne’s life but when not working she is a keen skier, cyclist and hillwalker and is a certified PADI Advanced Scuba diver. She also enjoys yoga, tennis, swimming, reading, music, cooking and spending time with friends and family.

Anne’s travels have taken her to Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Philippines, India, Burma, Sri Lanka, Borneo, Hong Kong, Nepal, Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Oman, Australia, Canada, the United States, Iceland and throughout Europe.

Ken helped Anne set up the Gecko Travel Clinic in 2013 and works with her on non-clinical aspects of the business. He was General Manager at one of Scotland’s leading tour operators,working with people as enthused about travel and culture as our own Gecko team. Like Anne, Ken spends as much of his free time as possible travelling and, as an avid cyclist, skier, runner and PADI Advanced Scuba Diver, adventure is never too far away. Keen to broaden his horizons, Ken has also completed studies in complementary therapies, which gave him the opportunity and rewarding experience of volunteering in the Day Unit at Strathcarron Hospice. Qualifications include BSc Soil Science, Diplomas in Swedish and Remedial and Sports Massage.

Ken’s travels have taken him to Europe, South East Asia, India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Australia, the Caribbean, USA and Canada. Ken is just as passionate about travel at home and never tires of revisiting favourite places or setting off to explore a little bit more of Scotland.
Dr Jane Dunbar
Travel Health Expert | Specialises in Tropical Medicine & Health
Following studies in medicine at St Andrews and Manchester Universities, Jane went on to study Tropical Medicine and Health at London University before settling into her first GP role. In 1995, she left to specialise in Sports Medicine and now runs her own private sports clinic in Bridge of Allan. In 2009, Jane became the first GMC registered Sports Event Medicine Specialist in Scotland, not to mention the first woman to do so in the UK. Always on the go, she has sailed the Atlantic with the Jubilee Sailing Trust and volunteered as a healthcare professional at no less than three Commonwealth Games and three Olympic Games. Since 2015, Jane has been volunteering with the Inle Trust, travelling to a remote monastery and villages in Myanmar where she works at a clinic set up to aid and promote good health among locals.
Qualifications include Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB); Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (DTM&H), Diploma in Sports Medicine (Dip Sports Med); Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG).

Dr Sarah Maclean
Travel Health Expert | Specialises in Altitude & Expedition Medicine
Sarah graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2008 and is currently a Specialty Registrar in Anaesthetics & Intensive Care Medicine. She is a keen mountaineer, mountain biker and skier and is fortunate to have travelled to many of the world’s beautiful places. Sarah worked in a breast clinic in Swaziland whilst undertaking research on breast cancer for her degree in International Health. In her spare time, she enjoys mountain biking, ski touring, playing music, baking and planning her next adventure!
Qualifications include Bachelor of Science in International Health, Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, Diploma in Mountain Medicine.
Sarah’s travels have taken her to East and Southern Africa, Thailand, Europe, New Zealand, Morocco, Iceland, and Patagonia.
Travel Health Expert | Specialises in Travel Health
Anne is an experienced health care practitioner with a broad and diverse professional background that includes midwifery and chronic disease management. She is an independent medical prescriber and her work in primary care also gives her invaluable insight into the varied needs of her travel clinic clients. Skiing and walking enthusiast, Anne’s interest in travel health stems from backpacking and adventure trips abroad with her husband and four children. It is safe to say Anne’s family were bitten by the travel bug – her children have lived all over the world and she has had the enviable pleasure of visiting them.
Qualifications include Diabetes and respiratory care management, independent medical prescriber.
Anne’s travels have taken her across Europe and to Australia, Fiji, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Canada and the United States.
Susan assists Anne and Ken on the non-clinical side of the business, providing much needed administration support as well as helping with reception. Previously, Susan enjoyed a successful career in banking which also opened up opportunities for travel, leaving her role at the Royal Bank of Scotland to move to Australia where she worked for ING Bank. As a keen rugby supporter, Susan could not resist following the British Lions on their tour of Australia (at least once).

Susan’s travels have taken her to some very special places including Annapurna, Bora Bora and Easter Island.
